This Is Going to

balloons-headshot1From: Bombshell Betty, Burlesque Performer & Instructor

What I am about to tell you is going to revolutionize burlesque.

That’s a big claim, I know. I’ll tell you exactly what I’m talking about in a minute, but first, I have a question for you...

When it comes to your burlesque career…
Are You Just “Winging It?”

Learning by trial and error?

Or do you know exactly how to take your career where you want it to go?

If you are “winging it,” don’t feel bad…you’re not alone. For many years, that’s what I did, too.

When I started performing in 1996, there were no burlesque or striptease classes, so I had to figure everything out on my own. A few years later when I started teaching burlesque classes, everything I knew about running a business could have fit on a post-it note. At first, I learned to run a business in the same way I learned to be a performer, with some success and a lot of struggle.

After a few years of this, I started looking for mentors and professional business training, and that’s when everything changed for me.

What I learned then was...

The Fastest Road to Success:
Find People Who Have Already Succeeded at What You Want To Do,
and Do What They Did

Imagine what it would be like to have direct access to the world’s most successful burlesque performers and entrepreneurs. Not once at a festival, but year round, week in and week out.

How would your performances improve if you could workshop your acts and get feedback and advice from the most experienced burlesque performers out there?

Or if you could ask world-class performers to post videos for you demonstrating various burlesque techniques or explain their creative processes to you?

How much easier would it be to produce successful shows, start teaching burlesque classes, attract corporate clients, or whatever else you want to do if you could pick the brains of people who have been making a living doing burlesque for years?

What if you could find a community where other burlesque performers, producers, and entrepreneurs support each other and share best practices, performance techniques, and burlesque business knowledge with no sense of competition?

That would change everything, don’t you agree?

I have good news for you!

Introducing the Tease! Bang! Boom! Burlesque Mentoring Program!

Tease! Bang! Boom! (or TBB for short) has teamed up with some of the biggest names in burlesque to help YOU make your burlesque dreams come true!

By participating in this ground-breaking program, you’ll be able to get answers to every question you’ve ever had about the art and the business of burlesque. So far, these burlesque stars have generously contributed their knowledge and expertise to members of the TBB Burlesque Mentoring Program:

Red Hot Annie - Chicago

Red Hot Annie started performing burlesque in 2008, after over a decade performing other art forms. She is a cofounder of Vaudezilla (voted Best Burlesque by Chicago Reader 2011 & 2014), has been teaching burlesque since 2009, and is one of the Executive Producers of Windy City Burlesque Fest.

Red Hot Annie has travelled internationally, has headlined many national burlesque festivals, and has been nationally recognized by being voted #34 in the Burlesque Top 50 for 2010 and winning "Best Novelty" at Texas Burlesque Fest in 2012.

Sydni Deveraux - NYC/Seattle

Sydni Deveraux, “The Golden Glamazon,” is a burlesque performer, producer, instructor, jazz singer and blogger who has taught classes at festivals across the US, at BurlyCon, and privately. She was named 1st Runner Up for Queen at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in 2013, and was ranked in the top 50 burlesque performers of 2011, 2012 and 2013 as polled by the online magazine, 21st Century Burlesque.

In addition to her blog, “Living In A Glitter Wonderland,” her writing has been featured by 21st Century Burlesque, The Berlesker (literary journal), and is read by thousands of people worldwide. She is the producer of Seattle's longest running weekly review, "Burlesque Behind the Pink Door," and has been a fixture in the burlesque community for over 8 years. (Image by Photolena.)

The Shanghai Pearl - Seattle

The Shanghai Pearl is an internationally renowned burlesque performer and instructor based out of Seattle, Washington. In addition to her headlining solo performance career, she has produced a variety of successful shows and events, she is a lead instructor with Miss Indigo Blue’s Academy of Burlesque, creator of the popular DIY Showgirl series, can be seen in Deidre Timmons’ documentary “A Wink and A Smile,” and is thrilled to bits to be the current face of the Seattle International Film Festival.

Some performance highlights include: Teatro Zinanni (Seattle and San Francisco), the award winning Heavenly Spies, and many burlesque festivals across the US. Photo by POC Photo.

Viva Valezz - Pittsburgh

Viva Valezz has been performing just about since she could walk. Trained in various performance arts, she began her burlesque career in 2007, founded her troupe, The Velvet Hearts, in 2008, and was named "Columbus' Favorite Burlesque Performer" in 2010 by Outlook Magazine.

Being a very open and "out" lesbian, Viva has produced the FIERCE! Queer Burlesque Festival and tour since 2012, and has performed in many national burlesque festivals, including bringing home a coveted NYBF "Golden Pastie Award."

Red Velvet - San Francisco

Red Velvet began studying dance at the age of 2 and started performing soon after. She is a co-artistic director of the “DIVA or Die” burlesque show (a production of DIVAfest) at the Exit Theater, and the co-creator of the burlesque plays “Rebel Without a Bra: A Burlesque Cabaret” and “At the White Rabbit Burlesque.” Ms. Velvet has taught classes and performed solo acts at the Toronto Burlesque Festival, the Texas Burlesque Festival, the Ohio Burlesque Festival, the Hollywood Burlesque Festival, the Carolina Burlesque Festival, The Great Burlesque Expo in Boston, and many other national festivals. Her act won “Most Humorous” at the Great Burlesque Expo 2014!

Freya West - Nashville

Freya West is a body positive, shimmy shaking, fire eating performance artist, professional writer, and teacher. She began performing burlesque in 2008 in Chicago, then moved in 2010 to Nashville, TN, where she produces and performs with Music City Burlesque and runs her own burlesque school.

Freya has been on stage in 15 states and four countries, including headlining Iceland’s very first burlesque show, and has been in several music videos and a few reality TV shows.

...and of course me, Bombshell Betty.

I've been performing since 1996 and teaching since 2004, and through my classes, shows and other projects, I've helped thousands of women (and some adventurous men, too!) learn to express their hidden creative genius, love their bodies just as they are, and find the courage to live with radiant confidence.

As a burlesque entrepreneur, I've made my sole living through burlesque since 2006. I've released a burlesque training DVD and 2+ hours of free videos, published the pinup modeling book "Plain Jane to Pinup Queen" in 2008, and have toured nationally and internationally teaching and performing.

And this is just the start! We're always reaching out to the best, most experienced and generous burlesque stars to share their knowledge, so we're bringing more burlesque experts into the fold all the time...

Here’s how this works...

Live "Office Hours" Sessions

All TBB Burlesque Mentoring Program members get access to a private, members only Facebook group, where you’ll get ONGOING and direct access to the TBB team and our guest experts in our LIVE, members only Office Hours sessions.

During the live Office Hours sessions, you can ask the TBB team literally ANYTHING you want to know about getting started in burlesque or building your burlesque career! If you can’t be in the group during the session, you can send us your questions ahead of time and check the group for responses when you have the time.

In this group, you can also post videos of your acts, whether they're your signature acts you've been performing for ages or they're brand new works in progress. You'll get honest and supportive constructive feedback from experienced, professional performers who are also teachers, festival headliners and even festival producers!

You can also post your website, your marketing materials, or anything else to get tips and personalized advice on how to improve your marketing. Let us help you take your burlesque career to the next level!

TBB Knowledge Base

Once you sign up, you'll have instant access to all of the knowledge and training shared so far in the Office Hours sessions, which have been transcribed and entered into a searchable database. So there’s no need to search through the Facebook group or watch recordings of all the trainings when you’re looking for answers to a specific question. Just search the database for the information you want, and hey, presto! You’re good to go!

Tease! Bang! Boom! Burlesque Mentoring Program

See you on the inside,
Bombshell Betty

PS: A while ago, one of my graduates came up to me and asked, “So, Betty, I’m thinking about taking classes from another burlesque teacher. Are you okay with that?”

I stared at her blankly for a moment, blinked, and then said, “Yes, of course. You should always be taking classes.”

I’m pretty sure I managed to say this calmly, at least on the outside. But on the inside, I was jumping up and down, screaming dementedly:

You see, the best way to get good at anything you are passionate about is to immerse yourself. Take all the classes. Read all the books. Watch all the videos. And ABOVE ALL, find experienced, successful mentors to get as many perspectives as you can. Be voracious.

This is how you’ll get from where you are to where you want to be.

Here’s to making ALL of your burlesque dreams come true!
